Harrowby United 2
Eynesbury Rovers 2
The spoils were shared in an entertaining game at Dickens Road as Harrowby twice came from behind to secure a point and put a huge dent into Eynesbury’s promotion hopes.
In an even opening, Harrowby created the first real threat on goal after five minutes, with a shot from Martin Wormall from the edge of the area which was comfortably held by Eynesbury keeper Andrew Wale. Luke Peberdy made himself a chance after 12 minutes, flicking the ball over a defender’s head before seeing his well-struck shot blocked.
The visitors went close after 15 minutes when a cross from the right by their top scorer Lee Bassett set up Jack Weedon whose shot hit the post. Arrows’ Craig Wilson had a shot deflected into the side netting after 25 five minutes but it was Eynesbury who took the lead four minutes later when Ben Colmer advanced down the right and swung in a cross which was headed home by an unmarked Weedon.
The Arrows’ equaliser came after 38 minutes when a run and cross into the Rovers penalty area by Peberdy was headed out by Paul Reynolds, but only as far as Scott Webb who struck a sweet volley into the top left hand corner.
Eynesbury regained the lead two minutes before the interval when a scramble firstly saw a shot blocked by Jack Whyley which fell to Weedon. His effort was superbly saved by Drury who then stopped the rebound effort from Bassett, but could do nothing as the ball fell again to Weedon who poked home.
Eynesbury pushed on in the second half. Bassett shot just past the post after 53 minutes and they were unfortunate to hit the woodwork twice in just over a minute.
League and Arrows top scorer Wormall again came to their rescue when he fired home from the edge of the area to register his 40th goal of the season.
Harrowby were grateful to keeper Drury who denied both Darren Woodend and Weedon. Man-of-the-match Drury excelled again in injury time, saving with his feet after a break from midfield by WeedonMatchball sponsor was S.A.O Carpentry & Joinery of Grantham and man of the match was Jack Drury.
