Division Two

Grantham 2nd 89

Frieston 92-0

Grantham’s young side struggled against Frieston’s accurate bowling, with only Mark Donnellan (29) and Max Everett (15) showing resistance.

In reply, Frieston’s openers were forced to bat cautiously, and both remained unbeaten in reaching 92.

Grantham’s 18-year-old Charlotte Cross bowled an outstanding seven overs for 12 runs, beating the bat on several occasions, supported by Tom McCartan’s economical five overs for 10 runs.

Association

Division One

Woolsthorpe 116

Buckminster 117-1

Jack Berry picked up 4-14, including the crucial wickets of Simon Claricoats and James Ward in consecutive deliveries, to lead the way for Buckminster.

Pete Morgan eased any nerves in the run chase, scoring 61 before falling to Steve Wilson. Fellow opener Jon Senescall remained unbeaten on 36 when the winning runs were hit.

Ashby Carington 188-8

Bottesford 189-6

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Ashby Carington made steady progress following some aggressive early bowling from Ben Ryder (1-30) and Phil Irvine (1-32). Paul Lever took 4-55.

Bottesford slumped to 60-5 in reply as Jay Dyer (3-35) and Darren Morris (2-45) knocked over the top order, but a fabulous partnership between Ben Ryder (72no) and Glenn Sutton (47) ensured an exciting finish, with Dan Barratt (17no) striking the winning runs to ensure victory.

Division Two

Grantham 164

Syston Town 165-5

Having won the toss and electing to bat, openers Mathews (34) and Ashley (39) got off to a good start, leaving Grantham 79 for the loss of no wicket in the 18th over.

But after the loss of the first wicket, more continued to fall cheaply at regular intervals, with the only resistance coming from Wing (33).

In reply, Syston got off to a flying start, scoring to all areas of the ground. Clark (2-39) and Ashley (1-40) turned the screw but Syston reached their target with overs to spare.

Division Three

Queniborough 233-7

Belvoir 234-4

Belvoir strike bowlers Rosie Penford (1-6) and Fraser Fentem (2-40) made it hard for Cossington to score from the first six overs, however from there on the batmen made steady progress.

In reply, Belvoir got off to a good run chase with Sam Penford scoring 50 in the first seven overs. Wickets fell quickly until John Copley came to the crease to support Sam Penford.

Between them, they saw Belvoir home with 10 overs to spare – with Sam Penford scoring a personal best of 143no.

Colsterworth 50

Croxton Kerrial 51-4

Croxton won the toss and elected to field which proved to be the right decision, with plenty in the pitch for the bowlers.

With only Atter for Colsterworth showing how it should be done, the home side ripped through the visitors in just 22 overs, Richardson, Davey and Aylin taking three wickets apiece, with one from Crossland.

The reply was considered and apart from a couple of scares, Croxton Kerrial never really looked in any danger, with Clement-Sutcliffe carrying his bat for six runs, ably supported at the end by a resurgent Chris Jeary.

South Notts League

Burton Joyce 120-8

Belvoir 2nd 121-1

Strike bowlers Alex Forbes (3-33) and Danny Gibson restricted Burton Joyce to 7-2 from the first 13 overs on a difficult pitch.

Fraser Fentem bowled a couple of sharp maidens to increase the pressure and Lewis Dann (2-32) and Tony Wade (2-27) both moved the ball about producing further regular wickets

Belvoir’s fielding was exemplary throughout, with fine contributions from Tony Dyer, Danny Gibson and keeper Danny Ross.

In reply, John Copley (25) and Euan Coulthard (53no) set off at a canter with 50 runs in the first 10 overs. Copley hit three fours with his usual gusto while Coulthard cut and swept more elegantly.

The canter became a full gallop as Coulthard took 16 off the next over with a ferocious display of driving and completed a 54-ball half-century. Tom Neville then dismissed deliveries to and over the boundary for three fours and a six to win the match.
