A church minister was the first runner to cross the finish line in the Caythorpe Canter last Sunday.
Grantham Baptist Church’s Rev Andrew Scholes completed the 13-mile multi-terrain course in 1hr 29min 50sec. In third place was Martin Stevens (Werrington Joggers), of Hough on the Hill, in 1.32.37.
There was more success for local runners when, for the first time in 16 events, a resident of Caythorpe won a race. Tackling the long 26-mile route, Ellie Pocock triumphed by more than five minutes in a time of 3.44.08..
Numbers were down on last year with 112 entered, but they travelled from as far as Newcastle, Hereford, Ipswich and the Borders.
