Ropsley Fox were today crowned champions of Lincolnshire but they will almost certainly not be defending their crown next year as the side is set to fold and pursue bigger prizes.
Team manager Richard Payne told the Journal the club plan to cease playing Sunday league football and instead seek greater challenges as a Saturday team.
Richard said the decision was not yet final but it looks like the team will be no more.
He said: “It’s looking like we are going to test the waters on Saturdays and hopefully step it up a bit.
“We have not lost a game for two years so we are going to see if we can challenge them and see if we can take it on to better things.”
Richard agreed that the county cup victory was a great way to go out.
He said: “Exactly. Unbelievable. Hopefully we can stay unbeaten for the rest of the season too.
“To be the first team in Grantham to win it is brilliant. I can’t praise the lads enough.”
