The next year is shaping up to be an exciting one for Grantham-sports charity Inspire+.

As its success grows, so does the list of initiatives and activities it provides.

More than 100 young people in schools have been trained to promote Olympic values in their schools, a Sports Leadership Academy will build on the skills of up to 70 teenagers, a holiday sports club will keep youngsters active during school breaks, sports training will be given to teachers, and further residential stays at activity centre PGL Caythorpe are planned.

A key initiative is the Olympic Legacy Challenge, which invites pupils in schools to complete various challenges and receive bronze, silver or gold medals to mark their accomplishments.

Also in a bid to keep the Olympic and Paralympic values alive, schools’ young ambassadors will be tasked with handing over pledge books in school assemblies.

Inspire+ CEO Vincent Brittain said he is excited about the year ahead, and also proud of the year gone by.

He added: “I hope that people will feel proud of the charity. We are the only School Sports Partnership (SSPs were scrapped by Government in 2010) that has turned themselves into a charity. No-one else has done it. We’re ground-breaking in that sense. Without the charity, all these things just wouldn’t be happening.”

A parent volunteer programme is another new venture. An education event will be held on November 21. Information: vincent.inspireplus@gmail.com
