AFTER a three-year break, the world’s largest country fair - the CLA Game Fair - is returning to Belvoir Castle this summer - and could prove a massive boost to the local economy.
An estimated 130,000 people are likely to attend the weekend event in July which will feature exhibitions of shooting, equestrian, food and much more.
Ollie Wilson of the CLA Game Fair said: “It’s like a great party for the countryside.
“People will be coming from all over Britain and abroad but we really want local involvement too.
“It’s the biggest countryside event of its kind - not just in Britain or Europe but in the world. It’s a huge event.”
At this year’s event a special fishing competition will be held with someone walking away with the grand prize of £10,000.
A single fish will be tagged and put into the water for all entrants to attempt to catch - from first-timers to experts. Each person will receive a limited time to land the star fish,
Mr Wilson said: “The prize has been put up by the CLA and whoever catches the fish will win the £10,000.
“But if nobody manages to get it then everyone who entered will go into a draw so someone will walk away with £10,000.”
The CLA Games Fair comes to the area every three years, with the last successful visit in 2009 estimated to have boosted the local economy by £11 million.
The event will be held from Friday, July 20 to Sunday, July 22.
