A NEW school block has opened at Ambergate Sports College, Grantham, replacing temporary classrooms on a different site.

The new classrooms will form a new Lower School and were partly paid for thanks to an investment of £750,000 by Lincolnshire County Council.

Executive headteacher Peter Bell said: “We have historically rented as the numbers at Ambergate have increased because, I believe, we were gaining a growing reputation.

“Those classrooms were not necessarily fit for purpose and the local authority have supported us in recognising this fact. Now we are able to bring all the students to the same site and enhance the site they will come on to.”

The new rooms will not only benefit Ambergate pupils but also children at Sandon School.

Mr Bell said: “It will benefit all the pupils and give them more of a sense of belonging.

“It also shows the parents and the community the commitment the county council and the school has to their children.”

Coun Patricia Bradwell said: “This demonstrates the council’s commitment to ensuring that children and young people with more complex needs have the best possible accommodation and resources to help them reach their potential.”
