Take part in Ponton Plod

Charity walkers are being sought to take part in a popular village fund-raiser.

Organisers of this year’s Ponton Plod are giving those taking part the option of covering 27 miles, 17 miles or 12 miles - all at their own pace.

The full route takes fund-raisers from Great Ponton and through several picturesque Lincolnshire and Leicestershire villages towards the Vale of Belvoir.

There will be checkpoints every six miles where

The event will be held nex Sunday (Sept 15) and the money raised will go to the Besso Children’s Home in India and Glaston Parish Church in Rutland.

Last year’s event raised more than £2,000, with a record turnout of 248 taking part.

The minimum age of those taking part is 18 on the 27 mile route and 15 on the 12 and 17 mile routes.

The starting time for the 17 and 27 mile routes is 8.30am while the 12 mile route starts at 9.30am.

Everyone taking part will receive a certificate on completion of the plod and there will also be t-shirts and badges available to buy.
