Police are warning the public about bogus furniture sales people in the Grantham area.
The warning comes after a recent incident in which a man posing as a Dreams furniture company representative pressured an elderly resident into purchasing what she thought was a top of the range memory foam mattress.
The bogus trader drove the pensioner to a cash machine and took £150 as a down payment, before returning at a later date and asking for a further £200 for the mattress that turned out to be a cheap substitute. Thankfully, the resident refused to pay.
The man was driving a van marked with the “Dreams” branding but investigations have revealed that the bogus trader has nothing to do with the company and residents are being asked to call the police immediately if anyone similar calls at their property.
