Grantham Town lost their first fixture of the new season at Ashton United.
The Gingerbreads went behind in the first half, Ashton’s Gary Gee scoring from the spot in the 28th minute after Town conceded a penalty.
Grantham drew level in the second half when Gary King headed into the back of the net on 64 minutes.
Despite rallying from the equaliser, Town conceded a second goal with just six minutes to play, Joe O’Neill giving the home side all three points.
Attendance was 133.
The Gingerbreads’ first home game is against Worksop Town on Tuesday night. Kick-off at The Meres is 7.45pm.
