A man who kicked in his ex-girlfriend’s door was told he must wait to learn his fate.

Nathan Baker, 23, of New Beacon Road in Grantham, admitted causing criminal damage after causing an estimated £200 worth of damage to the door of a house in Edward Street, Grantham.

The court heard Baker visited the house to pick up some belongings but nobody answered the door. He began banging on the window before taking out his anger on the door.

Daniel Pietryka, prosecuting, said: “He left shortly before the police arrived but the wooden door sustained substantial damage. The victim had to climb out of the window because she could not get out of the door.”

However, Baker said the victim was not in the property at the time of the offence and disputed the value of the damage caused. Rory Macmillan, defending, said: “He had made an arrangement that he would go round at that time. He went round but there was nobody at the property.

“Because of that he kicked the door and it split. He accepts full responsibility for his actions.”

The case was adjourned until July 2 for pre-sentence reports. Baker was released on unconditional bail.
