Two schools from Grantham represented the East Midlands at the Floor and Vault National Schools Finals at Stoke last Sunday.
King’s School under-14 boys’ team performed first on the floor, scoring 52.1 to place them in contention for a medal. After five consistent vaults, they finally placed second with 111.13, close behind winners Newcastle (112.12).
King’s comprised Benji Garment, Elliot Smith-Rasmussen, Ryan Poole, Daniel Watson, Cameron Chow and Jacob Armstrong.
Priory Ruskin Academy competed in the under-19 mixed event and worked extremely well on floor, scoring 52.04. After the vault, they placed sixth out of 12 teams with 109.99 points, a creditable result with all team members aged only 16 or under.
The team were Anthony Matthews, Tiago Fernandes, Rhys Rymer, Jack Gurney, Karlie Fincham and Tiffany Zuccotti.
