A man who broke into a shop on Dudley Road in Grantham on Monday has been sent to prison.

Carl Peter Jackson, 30, of Harrowby Lane, Grantham, was given a 26-week jail sentence by Grantham magistrates on Tuesday for the burglary at the Day-Today Express store in which alcohol, cigarettes, food and scratch cards were stolen.

Jackson was also sentenced to four weeks in prison for a theft from B&Q in Grantham on May 12. He was also handed a six month jail sentence for breaking a suspended sentence order made on April 26. A further 14 day sentence was given for thefts committed in Asda on May 7 and Tesco Express on April 28. All prison terms are to run concurrently.

The Dudley Road corner shop was broken into in the early hours of Monday morning after the window of the front door was smashed.
