There was a disappointingly low turnout from Grantham Athletic Club for the first match in the National Youth Development League at Rockingham Stadium, Corby, last Sunday – but what they lacked in quantity they made up for in quality.
The newly-formed league for under-17 and under-20 athletes saw Grantham AC represented by just four girls and six boys – but between them they achieved 11 victories and eight second places, and finished fourth overall.
Personal best performances were achieved by Ryan Carley in long jump, triple jump and javelin, and Chris Bainbridge in shot, discus and javelin.
