A “colossal” cake sale on St Peter’s Hill Green raised more than £1,000 for Help for Heroes at the weekend.
The event was opened by Grantham’s Mayor and Mayoress and people may have spotted Hero Bear walking the streets raising cash.
The event was organised by Emma Glover and Erika Bertulyte who were delighted with the response and the support of the public.
Katie Wilson, Regional coordinator for the charity said: “I am absolutely thrilled with the support and generosity of all who baked, played instruments, collected and helped to make the day such a success.
“Special thanks must go to Erika and Emma, who have done the most fantastic job of organising the Cake Sale and I can’t thank them enough for all their hard work. With the planned withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan next year, it is imperative that the public continue to support our wounded, sick and injured. Injuries sustained will not be miraculously cured and those affected will need our help and support for the rest of their lives.”
