Repton School 175-9
Belvoir 140-7
Two wickets in Lewis Dann’s first over and the excellent run out of Natish Kumar (32) by Danny Gibson helped reduce Repton to 47-5.
However, this bought Sam Cotter to the crease and, aided by James Nijjar and Charlie Bee, he changed the course of the game with a 69-ball 80, including two powerful sixes.
The day was cold and damp making fielding difficult. Nevertheless, there were some highlights for Belvoir – notably the enthusiasm and athleticism of John Copley in the covers.
Captain Olly Clayfield (39) and Jack Copley set about the target of 176 with abandon, reaching 49 from the first seven overs. Then James Nijjar stumped Copley off Natish Kumar (2-14) and the latter bowled Clayfield to initiate a middle-order collapse to 96-6.
Dann looked to add to his 3-32 bowling display with a strong batting performance but became Cotter’s second victim at 114-7.
At this point Belvoir needed 62 more runs from nine overs. The two Dannys, Ross (22no) and Gibson, put their heads down and played out the overs sensibly for a tough draw.
