Enjoy discovering the history of two of Grantham’s greatest historical buildings absolutely free this weekend.

Entry to Belton House and its grounds and Woolsthorpe Manor, the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton, is completely free for on Saturday and Sunday (April 20 and 21), by downloading a free voucher from the National Trust website.

Belton will be open from 10.30am to 5.30pm, with access to 35 acres of gardens, the Stables Restaurant, gift and garden shops, the Ride Play Café – with lots of adventure play opportunities for young children – and the Outdoor Adventure Playground with miniature train. The Stables second-hand bookshop has a varied selection of books, a special children’s section and a bargain area for the weekend.

The Below Stairs tours offer an opportunity to discover what life was like for Belton’s servants in the 1900s (timed tickets from visitor reception). The house itself is open from 12.30pm with a fascinating display entitled ‘Beyond Face Value’ revealing the hidden stories behind many items in Belton’s collections.

There will also be a Medieval Mysteries Walk at 11am (lasting one and a half hours) and again at 2pm. The walk can be pre-booked and costs £5 per person. (Telephone 01476 566116 for bookings).

Mary Kindred, visitor services manager said: “With gorgeous gardens to explore, a new interpretation of the Mansion collection, fascinating Below Stairs Tours and a great range of family activities, you could spend all day here and still come back for more!

“We have a great offer on membership this weekend so it’s the perfect time to visit or
introduce friends to all that the National Trust has to offer.”

Woolsthorpe Manor, at Woolsthorpe-by-Colsterworth, will be open from 11am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Visit the house, grounds and science discovery centre as well as the coffee shop.
