Notts Pennant League
Group 3
West Bridgford 2nd 7
Kesteven 2nd 71
Kesteven’s second string were victorious in this top-of-the-table clash.
The tone was set in the first minute. West Bridgford kicked off and Kesteven caught and spread the ball. Berry broke the game line and the ball went through the backs, with Hallam O’Brien scoring in the corner.
Harry Martin missed the conversion but made amends with a second try and then kicked the extra points. Martin added a three-point penalty kick, and converted tries from Price and Betts took the score to 25-0.
Bridgford scored a try and conversion to close the gap, but this was counteracted by a Dyson try and another two points from Martin.
Ks began the second half with another O’Brien try which was converted by Martin, followed by another five-pointer by O’Brien.
Jake Hughes finally saw the fruits of his labours, slipping five tackles to score in the corner. Martin’s kick was good. More tries followed from Cooper (2), O’Neill and Jake Hughes.
Table-toppers Kesteven 2nd can guarantee promotion if they win their last game against second-placed Melbourne on Saturday.
