Grantham have maintained their place in the league with one game remaining, despite losing to Cambridge at The Meres on Saturday.
That in itself was a decent result against a team placed third in the table, but after Ely City 3rd were forced to forfeit one of their remaining matches, Grantham’s safety was assured.
With two matches to play, the most points Ely could finish with is 18 and Grantham, with one match against bottom side and already relegated Cambridge Nomads 3rd to come, are already on 20, courtesy of six wins and two draws this season.
Next season will see Grantham take on local rivals Leadenham, as well as Cambridge City 5th, after both teams sealed promotion to Division 5NW earlier in the season.
