There is an opportunity to see the gardens at Grimsthorpe Castle, which will open for the National Gardens Scheme on Sunday, April 14, from 11am to 5pm, and again on Thursday, June 13.

There have been gardens at Grimsthorpe since Tudor times. They have evolved over the centuries and now offer 15 acres of formal and woodland gardens including bulbs and wild flowers in a magnificent setting. Formal gardens, immaculately kept, encompass fine yew topiary, rose parterres, herbaceous borders and an unusual ornamental kitchen garden with gravel paths.

Admission to the gardens only is £5.50, children £2. There will be refreshments available.

For more details go to www.grimsthorpe.co.uk or call 01778 591205.

The National Gardens Scheme in the last 10 years has donated over £22 million to nursing and caring charities. It is the single biggest donor to Macmillan Cancer Support and and Marie Curie.
