A programme to encourage healthy eating and active lifestyles begins in Grantham this month.
Fit Kids is a free weight management programme for families with children aged eight to 11 years. The 12-week course is aimed at families with children who are overweight.
The sessions include fun and games, as well as healthy eating and lifestyle advice, and the course takes place in a fun and friendly group environment for the whole family.
Lincolnshire Sports Partnership physical activity manager Sarah Clarke said: “Leading a healthy lifestyle is a difficult thing to do, especially when life is already so busy. These courses help families to get the right balance, fitting in regular physical activity and eating a healthy diet.”
More than 500 families have taken part in the programme over the last two years, including 50 families in South Kesteven. With a better understanding of healthy eating and active lifestyles, the sessions have had a long lasting impact on most of the families.
Sarah said: “The changes we have seen over 12 weeks are incredible; children gain confidence, get fitter and the whole family is encouraged to lead a healthier lifestyle.”
The Fit Kids programme in Grantham will start on Tuesday, January 15, and will take place every Tuesday and Thursday at Harrowby Hall, from 4pm till 5.30pm.
There are 12 places available on the programme for families in South Kesteven. For more information, or to secure your free place, contact Kate Priestley on 07817 607 592.
Fit Kids is funded by Public Health Lincolnshire and delivered by South Kesteven District Council. It is coordinated by Lincolnshire Sports Partnership.
