Grantham schools were well represented at the Lincolnshire Schools Gymnastics Championships at the Priory Ruskin Academy on Sunday, winning three team titles and narrowly missing out on two others.

In the boys’ competitions, King’s School took the under-13 and under-16 team titles, with Priory Ruskin coming second in the under-13s. However, Priory Ruskin managed to win the under-16 mixed title.

Walton Girls just missed retaining their team title in the under-16 girls by 0.05 of a mark. It was extremely close but Spalding High just managed to pip them to the title. Walton also finished as runners-up in the under-13, again to Spalding High with a slightly wider margin of 0.55 points.

Individually, Walton’s Phoebe Collins produced one of the highest floor scores of the day with 9.35 to give her the overall Level One title in the under-13 age group, and Georgia Wright took the under-16 girls’ Level One title.

In the boys’ competitions, titles were divided between King’s and Priory Ruskin. Cameron Chow, Ryan Poole and Tom Wharmby (King’s) and Jack Gurney and Anthony Matthews (Priory Ruskin) took the five titles on offer, between them.
