Volunteers at Grantham Talking Newspaper are celebrating their 1,500th edition today.

A special cake has been baked for the occasion and the volunteers will be meeting to celebrate tonight.

Talking Newspaper Vice Chairman Judith Parker said: “We are absolutely delighted to have got this far really, with all sorts of different people at different times.”

The Grantham and District Talking Newspaper for the Blind began life in 1982, with the first cassettes going out in 1983.

It’s current home is in Wharf Road having previously been based in the Market Place and above Barclays Bank.
