A motorist who defied a driving ban to get to work on time has been jailed by a judge at Lincoln Crown Court.

Max Green was originally given a chance after crashing his car into a wall at Denton near Grantham, seriously injuring two of his passengers.

He was disqualified from driving for two years and given a suspended jail sentence after he was convicted of dangerous driving and having no insurance following that collision

But Edna Leonard, prosecuting, said Green was caught driving again when police stopped him driving in Newton Abbott in the early hours of 9 September.

Green, who was working in the area as a chef, admitted he should not have been driving but said he drove to work because he woke up late and feared he would lose his job if he did not arrive on time.

Green,23, formerly of Buttermere Close, Melton Mowbray, but now living in Coniston Road, Ogwell, Devon, admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance. He also admitted breach of a suspended jail sentence imposed on May 4, 2011, as a result of the Denton crash.

He was jailed for a total of seven months and banned from driving for a year.

Judge Sean Morris told him “You and cars are a dangerous mix. Grow up and understand that court orders are there to follow.”
