Stoke Rochford hosted the Hotchkin Society Cup last week.
The society comprises six golf club courses designed by Colonel Stafford Vere Hotchkin and every year they get together to play for the Cup. Hotchkin also designed Woodhall Spa, Ashbridge, Kington, the Links in Newmarket, and West Sussex.
The home club were led to victory for the first time by captain Roger Smith with a total of 125 points from their their best cards, just edging out Links GC on countback.
Altogether, 14 pairs took part in the betterball stableford competition which was followed by an excellent dinner and trophy and prize presentation.

Stoke seniors came out on top in their first fixture against Abbotsley.

Mike Dickinson and John Wright lost 2&1, Mick Rance and Alan Jessop won 1 up, Ken Taylor and Eddie Plant won 2 up, Mike Graves and Greg Ewart won 5&3, Don Werner and Roy Rowe halved, Barrie Griffin and Les Cooper halved, Richard Leverett and Ray Elsome won 3&2.
l In their annual end of season challenge match, Stoke seniors won their match against their own club’s ladies to retain the Goldsbrough Bowl.
