The King’s Head in Navenby is perfect plaice to enjoy lunch

WHEN you visit a village pub on a mid-week lunch time, it’s always a good sign when it’s packed with diners.

And that was just the case at the King’s Head in Navenby.

If you find yourself heading to or from Lincoln then I whole-heartedly recommend a stop-off at the pub which has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and an ever-increasing reputation for good pub food.

The good thing about entering a busy eaterie is you get the chance to see what everyone else has ordered, so as soon as I saw the fish and chips I knew that was the one for me.

The fish was enormous and covered in delicious, crispy batter while the chips were of thick-cut size and nice and soft in the centre. And for less than a tenner.

The fish was excellent but there was so much of it I have to say, I struggled to finish.

There were one or two bones to be found, which didn’t bother me a great deal.

Meanwhile, the wife was enjoying a hearty steak and ale pie which she also thoroughly enjoyed...so much so she would have liked more gravy.

When I suspect I’m going to be writing a review on a place I usually do all within my power to test the dessert menu - for the benefit of you readers you understand - but given it was lunch time and I was already packed full of fish and chips, I had to reluctantly pass this time.

Again, I couldn’t reccomend the King’s Head enough and they have a wide variety or meal offers on practically every day of the week, for more details, go to www.thekingsheadnavenby.co.uk
