CLASSIC superbike racer Jason Dixon enjoyed his best results so far this season in the Golden Era Championship at Mallory Park last weekend.
With the weather changing from rain, sun and then hail prior to qualifying on the Saturday, Jason opted for a wet front and dry rear tyre set-up on his Suzuki. But the heavens opened after half a lap and he only managed to take ninth on the grid.
Saturday’s race one was declared wet and Jason got off to a good start, picking a few riders around Gerards and then another on the brakes into Edwinas.
He settled into fifth for a couple of laps but managed to sneak up to third to take his first podium place in the series.
In race two, Jason held third place for the whole race, only to be pipped on the line.
Jason started eighth on the grid for the first race on Sunday. He suffered a terrible start, dropping four places, but managed to get himself back up to fifth by the chequered flag.
Race two saw Jason get a great start and straight up to fourth. He battled for third place for the majority of the race but ran wide at the hairpin on lap eight and dropped two places, eventually crossing the finish line in fifth.
Jason expressed his thanks to R. P. Motorsport who prepare his bike, and to his team Courtney, Simon and Dale.
