THE mayors of Grantham and Stamford attended a successful flower festival at the Indoor Market, in Station Road East, Grantham, recently.

Organiser David Woolacott said around 500 people attended the event, which raised more than £400 for charity.

He said: “It was a lovely day. I was very pleased with the attitude of the Grantham people. They came and were interested in the plants.

“They were genuinely lovely people - there are a lot of fuchsia lovers in the Grantham area.”

The event, which allowed people to look at flower displays and pick up the plants for their gardens this summer, also raised money for charity.

Around £200 was donated to the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance and £200 was presented to the Children’s Air Ambulance.

David, who has recently opened up his flower business at the Indoor Market, said: “It’s a terrific sum of money. The spirit in the Indoor Market was great and I’ve had feedback from people to say how pleased they were. Thank you so much to all of the people who showed interest and made the effort to come along, despite the weather.

“That’s given us the encouragement to do a follow-up. Watch this space!”
