THE two Rotary Clubs in Grantham are known for their activities on both a local and international basis but on the local scene none more so than the Rotary Swimarathon.
The event involves the whole community and the money raised goes back to local charities and deserving causes in and around Grantham.
This year 1,400 swimmers took part over the three day event, 33,000 lengths were completed and £46,000 was raised for the community.
Grants were presented to 51 organisations in June ranging from £200 to £5,000.
The event is a fun packed weekend and whilst there is no restriction on how fast you swim competition soon hots up between the different teams.
The 23rd Rotary Swimarathon takes place February 3 to 5 and 201 teams are already registered with 39 gaps still available - so why not have a go? It’s fun, actioned packed, helps to keep you fit and it helps the local community.
Event chairman Roger Graves says with 2012 being the Olympic year we are looking for lots of personal records and team trophies to be won so why not join in and let’s go for gold!
Whilst we are individual clubs we are all delighted to help out at this tremendous event which not only has local recognition but worldwide.
