TWO players from Grantham came out on top in the Live Pub Poker League National Finals which took place in Southport.
Playing out of Grantham’s Hunters Bar, Steve Booker and Andy Bingham reached the final after 12 months of playing for points to qualify for the finals.
Steve lifted the trophy for LPPL National Champion after many hours of play which began on Friday evening, continued all day Saturday and came to its dramatic conclusion on Sunday.
Steve looked in control throughout and saw off the challenge of 436 other players to lift the trophy to rapturous scenes and a storming of the stage by other Lincolnshire players. The winning hand was Ace 8.
Andy was triumphant against 60 area final winners to lift the Champion of Champions Trophy to more cheers from the Lincolnshire contingent. The winning hand was again Ace 8.
Both players will hold the trophy for 12 months and won a holiday to Las Vegas apiece with $1,000 spending money each.
