DESPITE disappointment over the planning delay, headteacher of the academy Clive Shepherd is determined that it will not stop the students’ good progress.

The academy recently had its first Ofsted inspection, which received a ‘good’ rating.

This is a stark difference from the results of Grantham Church High School and Central Technology and Sports College, which merged to form the academy in September 2010.

Mr Shepherd said: “Students and staff have done an outstanding job over the past two-and-a-half years.

“One of the schools was in a poor category and the other was potentially about to be. It’s an absolute accolade to the students, staff and community.”

The next plan is to get an ‘outstanding’ rating.

He added: “We are working tirelessly for that. We are just waiting for the results in the summer - we hope that will put us in an ‘outstanding’ position.”
