MANY readers will have watched the Panorama programme on Monday evening which featured the subject of apprenticeships.
Apprenticeships are being promoted by this Government as one of the key vehicles for getting young people into work supported by training yet the programme uncovered some dubious practice across the country.
As principal, let me assure you that Grantham College has a long and successful track record in delivering apprenticeships in partnership with forward thinking local businesses.
We have grown the range of apprenticeships on offer to meet local demand from businesses and young people and we put our money where our mouth is by employing a number of apprentices ourselves. In addition the quality of what we offer is demonstrated in our success rates which are well above national averages.
However the best validation of our offer comes from our apprentices and employers themselves. We are delighted that three of our apprentices have been nominated as finalists for the Lincolnshire and Rutland Apprenticeship Awards 2012, which takes place later this month. These three young people are a fantastic advertisement for the college, their employers and the town, and show what can be achieved when apprenticeships are delivered in a high quality way.
If you are a young person, parent or employer who has been inspired by these examples and reassured by Grantham College’s approach to apprenticeship delivery, then give our business development centre a call on 01476 402206.
