The 50th Grantham Music Festival finished last Saturday evening following a week of classes covering a wide range of music.
We had the highest number of entries for several years, and enjoyed performances of a very high standard - no longer a surprise because we have come to realise what a wealth of talent exists in the young and not-so-young musicians of the town.
To cap the 50 years achievement of this Grantham institution we invited a number of professional musicians, themselves former festival performers, back to take part in a concert - and they certainly didn’t disappoint.
When adjudicated for their performances there was only one winner - Grantham! - because they, along with many others like them who have taken their music on to greater things, give the town so much to be proud of.
I would very much like to take this opportunity to thank all those who took part in all aspects of the Festival as performers, accompanists, parents, music teachers and everyone else giving support.
Can’t wait till next year!
