GRANTHAM Town extended their lead at the top of the league with a 4-3 victory at Goole today (Saturday).
The Gingerbreads went ahead from a 12th minute penalty struck by Paul Grimes. But an own goal courtesy of Grantham defender Grant Brindley brought Goole back level 13 minutes later.
Goole striker Vill Powell put his side in front in the 34th minute before Phil Watt squared the affair once again in the 39th minute.
Grantham found themselves trailing going into half time, with Aaron Martin putting his side in front in the 44th minute.
Jamie McGhee equalised for Grantham to make it 3-3 in the 56th minute, and the winner came from Rhys Lewis 10 minutes before time.
The Gingerbreads now lead the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South with 69 points, five clear of Ilkeston, who only managed a 0-0 draw at Coalville Town today, and with three games in hand.
Third placed Carlton Town also helped Grantham’s cause by losing 2-0 at home to Sutton Coldfield Town.
