South Kesteven District Council wants to increase its share of the Council Tax by 1.75 per cent from April next year, around 4p per week for a Band D household.
For those who live in a property with a banding of A or B, as most Grantham residents do, the increase per week will be lower – £1.48 for A and £1.73 for B. The council is asking people who want to comment on the proposal to go to the website: www. southkesteven.gov.uk/counciltaxbudget consultation by January 10, 2014.
Leader Councillor Linda Neal said: “We know times are tough, but this small increase and the savings we’ve made will enable us to maintain our quality frontline services.” Portfolio holder Councillor Mike Taylor said: “As a well run council, we have one of the lowest council taxes in the country.”
