Groove away Sunday night at Branston gig

THE Groove Merchants entertain with a mixture of smooth jazz, blues and fusion at The Wheel, Branston on Sunday.

Chris Green, who plays guitar and slide guitar in the band, said: “It is a valiant attempt to continue to establish live music regularly in The Vale and to help an excellent local hostelry in what must be difficult times.”

Alongside Chris, Si Potts will be playing drums and Dom Potts will be on bass.

Hattie Green will be singing in one of her few local performances before going to performing arts college to study musical theatre.

l IF country music is more your thing British legend John C. King will be at the Masonic Hall, in Chambers Street, tomorrow (Saturday).

Organised by Best of Friends Country Music Club, the evening also includes a hot two-course supper.

John C. King is held with high regard on the British country music scene, and is best known for his deep, powerful voice which he uses to great effect in a variety of song styles.

He played his first gig at the age of 12 and started his showband career four years later.

Now a solo artist, his rich voice is guaranteed to please with his unique mix of pure country music.

John C. King’s favourite artists are Merle Haggard, Boxcar Willie, Buck Owens, Conway Twitty and Waylon Jennings, but expect to hear some more contemporary material and even a slice of Lonnie Donegan and Elvis Presley.

Limited tickets are priced at £11.50 with doors opening at 6pm and supper served at 6.45pm. The show is from 7.30pm till 11pm. Call Neville on 01476 567777 for more details.
