EVERY day brings with it a new and exciting challenge at Isaac Newton Primary School.
Last week, pupils of the Grantham school were flying paper planes in the school hall during lunch-times, all competing for the title Glider King or Queen.
The winning team was budding engineer Marcus Jones, 9, and pilot Ethan Bolam, 10. Their gliding creation managed to fly a whopping 15m and 5cm.
Marcus said: “There are a variety of different basic plane designs. I looked at the hall, assessed the environment and went for a basic dart design but with a special little twist which I can’t tell you about.
“I made it and straight away I knew it was a good one. Anything over 10 metres indoors is going to give you a chance so when Ethan launched the DARTastic IV to over 15 metres I was delighted.”
So popular was the activity, the school decided to hold origami workshops this week.
