It was really nice to go along on Saturday morning to Grantham Railway Station, where the car park had been turned into a special railway siding for the Mallard, to celebrate the 75 years since it broke the world steam record of 125.88mph. To this day the record has not been broken.
It was also nice to see the Mallard returning to Grantham, from the National Railway Museum in York and also her successor, the pioneering Deltic diesel The Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and the Class 56.
