Leadership award goes to Great Wood Farm Early Years Centre

Exceptional leadership has earned a rural pre-school a prestigious award.

The Lincolnshire County Council Leadership Award for ‘leading the way’ went to Great Wood Farm Early Years Centre, in Boothby Pagnell.

It recognises how the centre promotes outdoor learning and opens up its facilities to the wider community by hosting school trips for primary schools.

Children get a taste of the outdoors at Forest School, which was set up by centre partner Kate Robinson four-and-a-half years ago. It features a unique base camp set in the middle of adjacent woods and encourages children to take calculated risks through climbing trees, building fires and using tools, which helps develop their self-confidence and other life skills.

Kate said: “Everyone at Great Wood Farm is really pleased to have won the award; it is great to have all our hard work recognised as being at the forefront of early years in Lincolnshire.”
