A father is appealing for the return of his son’s motocross bikes after they were stolen from a garage this morning.

David Greetham says his 14-year-old son, Harry, is devastated by the loss of the off-road bikes which were stolen from the garage at Moat Farm in Haceby between 12.40am and 5.40am. Mr Greetham says the thieves had wheeled the bikes out of the village before loading them on to a vehicle. He said police were investigating and had taken photgraphs of footprints leading from the house.

The bikes taken were a 2001 Honda CR125 and a 2010 Honda CRF250. Both had Harry’s racing number on them and his name.

Mr Greetham said: “Harry was in tears when we told him what had happened. He is a member of Oakham Motocross Club and has been riding for 18 months and this was his first season of racing. He will not be able to finish the season now and he doesn’t know what he will do next year.”

The family were in the process of selling the old bike, worth about £1,500, to recoup some of the money borrowed to buy the 2010 model which is worth £3,000. Harry took on a job to pay for the first bike with his own money.

Anybody with information about the bikes should call the police on 101 and quote incident number 40 of September 2.
