It has been great to see Grantham’s sixth formers and college students help the county buck national downward trends with their A-level results.
While nationally the amount of exam entries awarded A or A* dropped by 0.2 per cent, in Lincolnshire the figure actually rose by 2 per cent.
Not all news about local youth is found in the court pages and with the next generation receiving such good results, we should be proud of both them and our education providers.
Our schools and colleges have worked hard alongside the students and it has shown.

Walton Girls’ saw a increase of 13 per cent on A* to B grades while Sir William Robertson in Welbourn got its first ever batch of A-level results.
I am also happy to see that they are not resting on their laurels. News that Grantham College is to continue to expand its education for students with learning difficulties and disabilities is laudable.
Knowing that Grantham needs to continue working to capitalise on students potential is key in the future for our town and surrounding areas.
Having a reputation for good schools is always a positive for an area and we should hold our heads high thanks to them.
We as Granthamians should be proud of what our local A-level students have achieved in co-operation with our schools and can look forward to what they can achieve for Grantham.
