A man who admitted damaging a plug socket found himself spending a day in custody.

Jack Wakefield of Station Road, Castle Bytham, admitted causing the damage at a house he rented from South Kesteven District Council.

The court heard Wakefield, 30, got into an argument with his partner and picked up the television, pulling the plug from the wall and damaging the socket, which he repaired himself for £2.

The case had been referred back by the Crown Prosecution Service for the police to consider a caution. The police rejected the request, however Wakefield thought the matter had been dealt with so failed to appear in court earlier this month. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Monday he admitted causing the damage to the socket and breaching his bail by not attending court.

Bill Fraser, defending, said: “He is very sorry about what happened.”

Magistrates found Wakefield had served his punishment while in custody. He must also pay £40 in costs.
