A the owner and the manager of a Grantham Chinese restaurant have been fined a total of £3,400 for keeping a dirty and unhygienic kitchen.
Er Qing Wu, the owner of Mr Man and Mr Pang in Wharf Road, Grantham was fined £2,000 whilst Er Yu Wu, manager of the restaurant, was fined £1,400. Both men admitted failing in their duty as fit business operators to keep the premises known as Mr Man and Mr Pang cleaned and maintained in good repair and good working condition.
In sentencing, chair of magistrates Richard Spinks told Qing Wu: “You owned and were responsible for the running of a food outlet serving the paying public.
“Your customers need to be assured they are being served good quality food which has been prepared under the most hygienic conditions.
“The evidence presented to us today shows a very dirty kitchen.”
Magistrates deemed Qing Wu most culpable as owner of the business. He was fined £2,000. Yu Wu was fined £1,400.
They must pay combined costs of £984.01.
The business was prosecuted by South Kesteven District Council.
