An evening of Irish music will raise money to help preserve a rare church organ.
The concert, by The Kilburns, at St Andrew’s Church in Boothby Pagnell on Friday, June 14, will support the Hope Jones Organ Restoration Fund. Wine and canapes will be served betweem 7pm and 7.30pm. Entry is £10 and tickets are available from Tom Blake on 01476 585898 or by email at tom@stephensonblake.co.uk
The Kilburns are made up of Graham Welham, Sam Welham, Richard Silvester and Colin McGarrigle on drums. Colin is a lay minister for the local parishes.
The boothby Pagnell organ was built by Robert Hope Jones in 1896 and is one of the few remaining and working Hope Jones organs in the country.
Mr Blake said: “This is an important, rare organ not to be treated as an antique, but as part of our working heritage. Our aim is to return it to its original, full working order so that it can be put to full use for recitals and concerts and become the source of a regular income stream for the maintenance of the church fabric.”
