Dozens of protesters have gathered on a street where a convicted paedophile has returned to live.

The protest took place on Uplands Drive this afternoon a few weeks after Richard Wayne Bullimore moved back to the street. Many of the dozens of people protesting were parents or relatives of girls abused by Bullimore who was jailed in 2001 for 15 years for a string of sexual offences.

A large police presence ensured the protest was largely confined to the green in Uplands Drive and away from Bullimore’s house. Protesters blew whistles and held up banners saying “Justice for victims, stop the torment of victims, get the paedophile out!” and “Victims should not be victims again”.

Protester Annette Pask has set up an on-line petition on her Facebook page which has so far collected more than 200 signatures within a few days.

On her page she has urged Grantham MP Nick Boles to support the campaign to remove Bullimore from Grantham’s streets. She says: “On Monday 13th May it was decided by the authorities to allow this vile man to return to his home address where many of the people affected by him are still residing. The affect this has had on people is indescribable and heart-wrenching.

“Innocent people affected by crime should have the right to live in peace. This man cannot be in the slightest remorseful for his actions if he is happy to return and mentally torture these people again. We need to stand up and fight for the rights of the innocent. Please sign my petition and make people wake up to the ridiculous decision they have made in allowing this man to once again reside in this neighbourhood.”
