A man who showed a “blatant disregard” for a court order had his sentence changed to a four week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.

Tafara Washoma, 32, of Harlaxton Road in Grantham, had previously been subject to a 12-month supervision order for criminal damage and not obeying a police request.

However, the court heard from the probation service that he had missed more than half of his appointments on the order. He was said to have shown a “blatant disregard for” and “wilful neglect of” the order.

However, Rory Macmillan, defending, said Washoma “thinks he has fallen foul of red tape and he is not very happy with the way the order has gone”.

Magistrates decided to replace the supervision order with a suspended sentence.
