Ropsley Primary School triumphed in style at the Grantham and District Schools Tournament at Kesteven RFC’s Woodnook.
Ropsley won with an impressive eight wins out of eight, showing a combination of great attacking and defensive tagging, made even more impressive by the fact that the team comprised of children from Years 3, 4 and 5 and playing against predominantly Year 6 pupils.
The round robin tournament went down to the final game to decide the winners, with Ropsley and Harlaxton leading after eight games. It was a close encounter, but the attacking skills of Ropsley proved the difference with a 5-3 victory.
Roplsey School now progress to the Lincolnshire Finals later this month.
The Ropsley team comprised Thomas Helliwell (c), Sam Gilbert, Rory Sheard, Ryan Ellis,William Hazelwood, Robbie B. Jackson Nix, Josh Hankins, Henry Wharton, Ellie Gardner and Charlotte Helliwell.
