THE contribution made by reservists was recognised at a special reception at RAF College Cranwell on Saturday.

Around 150 guests attended this year’s Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire’s Deployed Forces Reception, including many who have served in operations abroad.

Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire Tony Worth said: “On returning from a tour of duty there is sometimes limited public recognition of the contribution each of you has made and of the sacrifice required to be away from loved ones in such challenging circumstances.

“Many reservists go straight back to civilian jobs so we, the representatives of Lincolnshire and the Armed Forces, hope that this reception will demonstrate that your efforts, bravery and commitment are both recognised and appreciated.”

Squadron leader Stuart Talton is a reservist who works at RAF College Cranwell as a senior budget manager.

He said: “Reservists very much appreciate events such as this, which show that the county and country supports them in what they do.”

Those killed or who have suffered injury were also paid a special tribute during the reception, which was attended by several civic dignataries.
