Candidates standing in the local elections on Thursday are pleading their case, hoping to win your votes.
Each hopeful has submitted up to 150 words about themselves, their approaches and what they believe to be priorities in both the electoral divisions in which they stand and the county as a whole.
One county councillor will be elected for each division, and will serve a four-year term.
Voters will be heading to their nearest polling stations on Thursday between 7am and 10pm, to elect their candidates.
Poll cards have been sent to all registered electors eligible to vote. If you are not registered, it is too late to do so as the deadline for applications was April 17.
* Bob Adams - Conservative
Bob Adams writes: “The county council elections are perhaps the most significant for many years.
“We have experienced some of the most difficult financial circumstances for many years.
“Conservative control has meant despite all the government cutbacks we have maintained frontline services, enhanced economic and cultural opportunities, protected and championed the county and its people and at the same time keeping council taxes as low as possible.
“I hope the electorate will remember these achievements when they vote and resist the temptation to make a protest vote against the happenings in Westminster.”
* Stewart Waring - UK Independence Party
Stewart writes: “I have lived in the area for 26 years, and recently became so concerned with the way things are going I decided to join UKIP, and stand for the county council.
“UKIP does not have a ‘whip’ system of enforcing political decisions from Westminster. UKIP candidates will stand on the platform of representing local concerns with a strong emphasis on ‘common sense’.
“UKIP is comparatively new, and we feel that things must change. There must be more emphasis on local decision-making on local affairs.
“I served 18 years as a RAF pilot, including time at RAF Cottesmore, then the airlines and the RAF Reserve.
“If elected I will work to preserve and improve all that is best locally and for Britain.
* John Ireland - Lincolnshire
Independent
John writes: “Residents have said how delighted they are that there is an Independent voice for Colsterworth Rural.
“Living on the border with Rutland and Leicestershire it is clear to see that the services that Lincolnshire County Council currently provides are woefully inadequate by comparison. Hardly surprising when they are sitting on millions of pounds of your money.
“I will be campaigning to:
• Provide sustainable apprenticeships and decent pre-school services
• Tackle rural deprivation
• Ensure our elderly residents enjoy a dignified and supported retirement
• Repair the ward’s road surfaces
• Provide affordable housing for Lincolnshire residents
“I have a strong background in local government, both in children’s and cultural services,
“Political parties spend their time fighting each other rather than for the best interests of their residents. Lincolnshire Independents will always put people first.”
* Eric Goodyer - Labour
Eric is a chartered engineer, specialising in the design of commercial and laboratory instrumentation. He set up his own business in 1991 after being made redundant inthe last Tory recession.
He also works part-time at De Montfort University, training tomorrow’s engineers, and building commercial partnerships between academia and industry.
Eric believes that the only way out of recession is to support economic growth by exploiting Britain’s great talent to design and build great products.
The county council can help by ignoring the Government’s downgrade of design and technology, and instead promoting these wealth creating subjects in schools.
He said: “We must also improve the county’s transport network, road, rail, river and bus, to enable goods and people to get about.”
