TAE KWON-DO: Grantham and Corby Glen students achieve perfection

Students from Corby Glen Tae Kwon-Do club joined members from Grantham and achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in their belt promotion exams.

The event was held in Grantham last weekend under guidance of David Oliver, eighth degree black-belt and chairman of the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain.

Results: 1st Kup Red Belt – Elliot Arnold, Cody Homfray; 2nd Kup Red Belt – Matthew Keyse; 3rd Kup Blue Belt – Rose Arnold, Hariharan Prabhakaran; 4th Kup Blue Belt – Thomas Parker, Charlotte Perry, Harry Perry; 5th Kup Green Belt – Trevor Bean, Harley Ebb, Jay Hawkins, James McKinlay; 6th Kup Green Belt – Cara Aldenhoff-Kelly, Frances Arnold, Charlie Ashwin-Holt, Harry Hulse, Poorav Pushparaj, Finlay Ogden, Amelia Sandon; 7th Kup Yellow Belt – Amy Crook, Erin Crook, Robert Padgett; 8th Kup Yellow Belt – Amanda Homfray; 9th Kup White Belt – Harry Allen, Abigail Bailey, Lewis Cook, Jack Croft, Zak Dean, Joe Dodwell, Jordan Hankins, Daniel Kelly, Libby Kirton, Charlotte Lee, Philip Lee, Jacob Poddington, Bruno Pires, Jehanne Royales, Mohammed Sehil, Jubil Tejome, Judi Tejome

l An action-packed day is scheduled for next (April 27) when The Meres leisure centre hosts the Lincolnshire Tae Kwon-Do Championships.

A display of individual events will be first on the programme, including junior and adult divisions in patterns, sparring, spectacular flying kicks and black-belt power tests. The team categories will be later, including, two-person team patterns and three-person tag-team sparring. Students from Corby Glen and Grantham will be contesting all the adult and junior categories.

The tournament will be hosted by Grantham instructors Malcolm Scholes, Jill Pearce and Daniel Pearce, and begins in the main hall at 9am.

Spectator tickets will be available on the door at £8 for a full day of martial arts entertainment.
